The East Coast

This tropical setting is distinguished by its steep mountains and lush vegetation fed by the humid climate. Busy with waterfalls, lakes, steep cliffs, famous rock formations such as the poule (the hen), you will witness a total change of scene. Hienghène, a stronghold of the kanak culture is brimming with these wild wonders. Poindimié is the main city on the eastern coast whose coastline is still preserved. Further south towards Kouaoua and Canala, mining landscapes reappear.
